The Morelli Crimpable Hook for TADs is a stainless steel archwire accessory that creates a dedicated attachment point for elastic chains, springs and metal ligature wires pulling from a temporary anchorage device. The hook arm is height-adjustable, so it can be flexed and finished to the length the mechanics require instead of forcing the appliance to accept a fixed hook.

Key Features

  • Adjustable hook height — the 9,8 mm arm can be set to 4 mm, 6,5 mm or 9,0 mm according to the clinical requirement.

  • Adjusted by flexing and finishing — the excess of the hook is removed chairside, with no need to replace the accessory.

  • Dedicated anchorage line to the mini-implant — positions the traction point at the height needed to reach the TAD, instead of relying on the bracket hooks.

  • Crimps on round and rectangular archwires — compatible with wires up to .022″ (0,55 mm).

  • Stainless steel construction — holds the crimped position under continuous elastic and spring load.

  • Referenced to the .022″ slot — matched to .022″ (0,55 mm) slot appliances.

Clinical Applications

  • Traction from a temporary anchorage device — elastic chains or springs running from the mini-implant to the archwire, with the hook height set to reach it.

  • Retraction and mesialization mechanics — anchorage control where the force has to be applied away from the archwire plane.

  • Auxiliary attachment points on the archwire — added wherever the existing bracket hooks do not provide the required position.

Which crimpable accessory does this case need?
Use the Crimpable Hook for TADs when the traction comes from a mini-implant and the arm has to be adjusted in height to reach it. If you only need a fixed traction point sitting on the archwire, the Short Crimpable Ball Hook is the simpler choice; if the part has to stop the wire from sliding rather than hold an elastic, use the Closed Gurin Lock.
