The Morelli Opened Gurin Lock Short Hook is a screw-locked orthodontic stop with an integrated short traction hook, built around an open rectangular slot that drops onto the archwire from the side. Because the slot is open, the accessory can be placed, repositioned or removed chairside without unthreading or disengaging the archwire, and it is secured by tightening its nut with the Morelli hexagonal Gurin key. Machined from stainless steel, it works as an adjustable stop and as a fixed anchorage point on rectangular archwires up to .021″ × .025″ (0,53 × 0,63 mm).
Key Features
Open rectangular slot — seats laterally onto an archwire that is already ligated, so placement and removal require no wire removal.
Chairside repositioning — loosening the nut lets the stop slide along the wire to a new position and lock again in the same appointment.
Short integrated hook — a compact traction point for elastics, chains and coil springs, held close to the wire to limit soft-tissue contact.
Nut-and-key fixation — tightened with the hexagonal Gurin key for a firm mechanical grip that stays fully reversible.
Rectangular wire seating — the rectangular slot engages the flats of the wire and resists rotation of the hook around it.
Stainless steel construction — corrosion resistance and full tensile capacity under continuous orthodontic load.
Side-specific supply — available in Right and Left versions for correct hook orientation in each quadrant.

Clinical Applications
Space opening and tie-back mechanics — acts as a stop against the tube or bracket to hold or regain space on an active archwire.
Elastic and spring traction — the short hook anchors elastic chains, intermaxillary elastics and coil springs at a defined point of the arch.
Mid-treatment corrections — added or relocated during an adjustment visit when the mechanics change and the archwire must stay in place.
Need to add a stop without taking the archwire out?
The open rectangular slot of this Gurin lets you install, slide and remove it with the wire still ligated, turning a mechanics change into a chairside adjustment.
