The Morelli Short Crimpable Ball Hook is a stainless steel ball-tipped hook crimped directly onto the archwire to create a traction point for elastic chains, springs and ligature wires used to move the teeth. Its short body sits close to the wire and can be curved to follow the arch form, which makes it the straightforward option when the force is applied along the archwire itself.

Key Features

  • Ball-tipped traction point — the rounded tip retains elastic chains, springs and wires used to move the teeth.

  • Short profile on the archwire — keeps the attachment point close to the wire, without an extended arm to adjust.

  • Smooth surface — finished to stay comfortable in contact with the soft tissue.

  • Can be curved — the body is shaped chairside to follow the arch form after positioning.

  • Crimps on round and rectangular archwires — compatible with wires up to .022″ (0,55 mm).

  • Stainless steel construction — holds the crimped position under continuous elastic and spring load.

Clinical Applications

  • Elastic traction along the archwire — elastic chains anchored to a fixed point crimped on the wire.

  • Coil spring mechanics — hook crimped onto the archwire to work against a compressed coil.

  • Additional elastic hook next to the wire — added where the bracket hooks do not offer the attachment position required.

Which hook fits the mechanics?
Use the Short Crimpable Ball Hook when the traction point sits on the archwire itself and no height adjustment is required. If the elastic or spring comes from a mini-implant and the arm has to be set to a defined height, use the Crimpable Hook for TADs; if the part has to block the wire from sliding instead of holding an elastic, use the Closed Gurin Lock.
