The Morelli Thermal Nickel Titanium Universal Form Archwires Rectangular are heat-activated NiTi archwires in Universal arch form with a rectangular cross-section. The alloy stays malleable and inactive while cold, and once it reaches the oral environment temperature it recovers its programmed shape, delivering constant orthodontic force with torque expression in the slot.

Key Features

  • Thermodynamic Activation — the microstructural transformation occurs above 27 °C (80.6 °F), so the wire only starts working after it is engaged in the mouth.

  • Easier Ligation When Cold — the archwire is malleable and inactive at room temperature, which simplifies engagement in severely displaced teeth.

  • Shape Memory — the wire returns to its programmed Universal arch form, generating continuous force for tooth movement.

  • Rectangular Cross-Section — fills the slot in both dimensions and adds torque control, unlike the round version of this archwire.

  • Six Working Sections — from .016″ × .016″ up to .021″ × .025″, covering the full progression to full slot engagement.

  • High Resistance — constant force delivery with resistance to permanent deformation between appointments.

Clinical Applications

  • Working phase after initial leveling, when rotation and torque must be resolved with light continuous force.

  • Severely displaced teeth that are difficult to ligate, where a cold, malleable wire allows engagement in one appointment.

  • Progression to full slot engagement, using the larger sections before finishing wires are placed.
