The Morelli Closed Distal Bender is used to bend and finish the orthodontic wire distally, turning the excess that projects behind the last tube and avoiding discomfort for the patient. It is the closed version of the instrument: the working tip carries a hole, so the wire end is enclosed on all sides while the bend is made.
Key Features
Closed tip with a hole — the wire end is threaded into a fully enclosed opening and cannot slip out sideways during the bend.
Controlled distal bending — the enclosed hole holds the wire steady behind the last molar tube, where access is limited.
Curved working end — the curvature of the instrument makes application in the posterior region easier.
Accepts wire up to .022″ — sized for .022″ archwires and smaller gauges.
Stainless steel construction — corrosion resistant and dimensionally stable across repeated sterilization cycles.
Autoclavable at 121 °C (250 °F) — reusable instrument validated by Morelli for steam sterilization.

Clinical Applications
Distal end finishing of the archwire after it is cut behind the last tube.
Cheek and mucosa protection, folding the projecting wire end away from the soft tissue.
Adjustment appointments, when the distal excess has to be re-bent after wire movement.
Wire end irritating the cheek?
The Closed Distal Bender surrounds the wire in a fully enclosed hole for maximum control of the bend — choose the Opened version when the wire has to be engaged from the side instead of threaded.
