Threaded onto the wire during assembly, it remains captive on the arch and cannot be displaced sideways, which makes it the choice when the stop must not leave the wire under load. Machined from stainless steel, it is locked in position with the Morelli hexagonal Gurin key and serves as both a stop and a fixed anchorage point on round archwires.
