The Morelli Stainless Steel Ligature Wire ā Ć.012ā³ is a solid single-strand round CrNi (chrome-nickel) stainless steel wire supplied on a 50 g roll and used to tie the archwire into the bracket slot. It is the heaviest of the three Morelli ligature gauges: at Ć0,30 mm it carries the most load per tie and resists loosening, at the cost of more plier force to twist and more metal at the bracket.
Key Features
Solid round CrNi wire ā single strand drawn to a uniform Ć0,30 mm, so every tie twists down the same way
Heaviest ligature gauge ā the highest tensile hold of the three, for ties that must not give way
Resists loosening ā the extra section keeps the twist tight under sustained traction
Roll yield ā roughly 90 m of continuous wire in a 50 g roll
Smooth drawn surface ā feeds through the pliers cleanly and is gentle on soft tissue
Continuous roll format ā each ligature is cut to the length the case needs, with no fixed-length waste

Clinical Applications
Load-bearing ligation where the tie is under sustained traction and must stay firm
Cinch-backs and steel tie-downs that need a heavier wire to hold their form
Auxiliary anchorage and fixations that would deform a lighter ligature wire
Which ligature gauge should you choose?
Pick Ć.012ā³ when the tie has to hold; drop to .010ā³ for routine ligation or .008ā³ when the priority is minimum bulk and easy twisting. This is a single-strand tying wire and is not interchangeable with twist-flex twisted wire, which works inside the slot as an archwire.
