The Morelli Stainless Steel Ligature Wire ā Ć.010ā³ is a solid single-strand round CrNi (chrome-nickel) stainless steel wire supplied on a 50 g roll and used to tie the archwire into the bracket slot. It is the middle ligature gauge and the everyday working choice: at Ć0,25 mm it balances tensile hold against ease of twisting, which makes it the default gauge for general ligation.
Key Features
Solid round CrNi wire ā single strand drawn to a uniform Ć0,25 mm, so every tie twists down the same way
Balanced middle gauge ā enough body to hold the archwire seated without the stiffness of a heavier tie
Predictable twisting behaviour ā forms a firm pigtail with moderate plier force and holds the turn without springing back
Practical yield per roll ā roughly 130 m of continuous wire in a 50 g roll, sized for high-volume routine use
Smooth drawn surface ā feeds through the pliers cleanly and is gentle on soft tissue
Continuous roll format ā each ligature is cut to the length the case needs, with no fixed-length waste

Clinical Applications
General archwire ligation across the full arch in day-to-day fixed treatment
Standard tie-downs where a light gauge would loosen and a heavy gauge would be excessive
Chairside stock gauge kept as the default ligature wire in the clinic
Which ligature gauge should you choose?
Pick Ć.010ā³ as the general-purpose tie; drop to .008ā³ when bulk and easy twisting matter more, or step up to .012ā³ when the tie has to resist real load. This is a single-strand tying wire and is not interchangeable with twist-flex twisted wire, which works inside the slot as an archwire.
