The Morelli Stainless Steel Twisted Wire .018″ is a 3-strand twist-flex CrNi (chrome-nickel) stainless steel wire supplied in straight 360 mm sticks. Morelli indicates twist-flex wire for the first stages of orthodontic treatment and for making lingual retainer bars. At .018″ (0,45 mm) it is the heavier of the two Morelli 3-strand twist-flex sticks — its larger section delivers more force and more rigidity, for later first-stage work and for sturdier bonded retainer bars.

Key Features

  • 3-strand twist-flex construction — three strands twisted together instead of a single solid core, for light and resilient force delivery

  • Long range of deflection — the multi-strand build stays active over a much larger displacement than a solid wire of the same section

  • Heavier 3-strand section — more force and more rigidity than .015″, for the transition out of the initial alignment phase

  • Straight 360 mm sticks — enough length for a full arch or for a bonded lingual retainer bar

  • CrNi stainless steel — corrosion-resistant and formable, for bending retainer bars to the lingual anatomy

  • Supplied in packs of 10 sticks — practical stock quantity for routine chairside use

Twisted wire or ligature wire?
Twist-flex .018″ is an archwire and retainer wire, not a tie — it is engaged in the bracket slot or bonded as a retainer bar, and is not interchangeable with single-strand ligature wire, which only ties the archwire in place. Choose .018″ when the case needs more force or a stiffer retainer bar; drop to .015″ for maximum flexibility in the most crowded arches.
